Adding a task

Previous  Top  Next

In the Insert pallet displayed on the toolbar, it will be possible to add tasks of determined types to the project in question. The procedure to add tasks to the project is similar, because of that, the description will be made in this section only, identifying where they differ:

1.In the structure, select the structure level (project or task) below which you wish to add a new task.

2.In the Add palette, click on the option that corresponds to the task type you wish to add:

Task: Allows adding a new task. Tasks, also known as to-do tasks, are work elements performed during the course of a project. The addition of this type of task may also be performed through the "Insert" key on the keyboard or through the shortcut displayed when right-clicking on the vision area.

Summary task: Allows adding a task that will group subtasks together.

Milestone: Allows adding a reference point to mark an important event of the project. A milestone is represented in the Gantt chart by the symbol.

The procedure to add recurring tasks will not be approached in this section. View the Adding recurring tasks section for a detailed description of how to add recurring tasks.

3.At this point, a new row will be added to the structure. Note that:

If the element selected in the structure (step 1) is a task, the new task will be added one level below the selected task.

If the element selected in the structure is a project and a summary task is added, in addition to it, one more row will be added to include a new subtask.

If the element selected in the structure is a task and a summary task is added, the selected task will become a subtask of the summary task.

4.Enter, in the corresponding row, a name for the task and, after that, press the ENTER key on the keyboard. The change in the name of the task in the structure may also be performed by pressing the "F2" key on the keyboard.

5.Use the Task data option to carry out the required configurations in the included task. Refer to the Editing task data section for further information on how to perform this operation.

Add as many tasks as necessary to the project structure. For that, repeat the procedure described before.

Use the indentation arrows in the Schedule palette to move the tasks in the project structure.
