Slicing

The slicing operation is equivalent to a "cut" in the cube: however, the perspective to view data is maintained. As well as a filter, the slicing operation limits a dimension to only one or some values. See how to perform the slicing operation in SE Analytics analysis environment through the next example:

To perform the slicing operation, the user should drag the field that will have its values restricted to the search fields area. When the field is in the filter area, click on it. On the screen that opens next to the filter, select how to restrict the values.

▪Only one value: If this option is selected, the result of the vision will be restricted to an operation under a certain value. Therefore, select the Operator to be defined, and then set the Value. If the vision is being used in a Portal, it is recommended to use constants instead of fixed values. To use a constant in this field, check the Use constant option and select the desired constant. It is worth remembering that the displayed constants vary according to the field applied in the filter.

▪Interval between two values: If this option is selected, the result of the vision is restricted to a range between two values. Therefore, set the Minimum Value and the Maximum Value that will be applied to the filter. If the vision is being used in a Portal, it is recommended to use constants instead of fixed values. To use a constant in this field, check the Use constant option and select the desired constant. It is worth remembering that the displayed constants vary according to the field applied in the filter.

▪List of values: If this option is selected, the result of the vision will be restricted to certain field values. To do that, set whether the result that will be displayed in the Contains or Not contains vision contains the values selected in this filter.

In the example shown next, the analysis was restricted to the number of revisions for the years: 2016, 2017 and 2018:

After configuring the filter, click on the Apply button. At this point, the analysis vision screen will be loaded according to the filters applied:
