Creating a document using a wizard - Importing a CAD file

To add a document from a .dwg file with the help of a wizard, click on the arrow next to the button and click on the Create document using wizard option.

 

On the creation wizard that will be opened, click on the Import CAD file option.

 

In the Select the drawing software field of the First steps step, click on the AutoCAD option.

 

At this point, an external application will be executed and a screen will be opened for the selection of the .dwg file from which the document should be created. Click on the Close option to leave the creation wizard.

 

A .dwg file can have other files that depend on it which are identified by the system, they can be other .dwg files or images.

VectorDraw FileConverter application will be requested to be installed, so that it can be used properly.

If the file has dependencies, fill in the following fields corresponding to each column of the screen that will open:

Category: Enter the ID # of the category that will classify the document that will be created.

ID #: Enter the ID # of the document that will be created.

Title: Enter the title of the document that will be created. The title does not need to be the same as the name of the electronic file.

 

If the file does not have any dependencies, the document data screen will be displayed for completion. View the Editing documents section for further details on how to fill out the fields of this screen.

 

After entering the required fields, save the record.
