Creating an asset template

Previous  Top  Next

To add a new asset template, click on the button on the main screen toolbar. On the screen that will be displayed, select the type that will classify the template and save the selection.

If the asset type has revision control configured, it will not be applied to asset templates, given that they cannot be revised.

On the screen that will be opened, the following sections will be available:

In the General data section, fill out the following fields:

ID #: Enter an ID # for the asset template or generate an automatic ID #. If identification mask use has been configured in the type that classifies the template, when the ID # is generated, the corresponding mask will be displayed. The ID # generated through the mask can only be edited if the "Enable ID # change" option is checked on the data screen of the asset type.

If the asset template was created from a copy, the ID # will start with "Copy of", and it will be possible to edit it.

Name: Enter a name for the asset template. If it was created from a copy, the ID # will start with "Copy of", and it will be possible to edit it.

Responsible team: Enter a team that will be responsible for the assets based on this template.

Specification: Select which will be the specification of the assets created from the template in question: gage, equipment, tooling, tool, computer, or miscellaneous.

Calendar: If a default calendar has been defined in the type that classifies the template, this field will be filled out with it. If a default calendar is not defined, this field will be filled out with the default calendar of the system. In both cases, it is possible to edit it. Refer to the SE Administration component specific documentation for more information about adding and configuring calendars.

Save the record, but do not close the data screen. At this point, the other sections will be enabled to be filled out.

Details on how to configure the other fields in the General data section can be found in the Configuring an asset template subsection.

After filling out all the necessary fields, save the record.
