Items panel

See the description of the displayed items in the item panel of Analysis tools:

General

See, in this section, the items that can be dragged to the analysis area:

▪Cause: This item should be dragged to the drawing area to indicate a cause of the defect being analyzed. This item is displayed for the "Ishikawa" and "5 Whys" type analysis tools.

▪Question: This item should be dragged to the drawing area when more questions need to be added. This item is displayed only for the "5 Whys" Analysis tool.

▪Basic: This item should be dragged to the drawing area to indicate a basic cause for the defect under analysis. This item is displayed only for the "FTA" analysis tool.

▪Unknown: This item should be dragged to the drawing area to indicate an unknown cause for the defect under analysis. This item is displayed only for the "FTA" analysis tool.

▪External: This item should be dragged to the drawing area to indicate an external cause for the defect under analysis. This item is displayed only for the "FTA" analysis tool.

▪Intermediate: This item should be dragged to the drawing area to indicate an intermediate cause for the defect under analysis. This item is displayed only for the "FTA" analysis tool.

Connectors

This section displays the available connectors for the analysis tools.

▪Connector: This item should be used to connect the other items dragged to the modeling area. Click on the connector and the mouse arrow will change to the connector arrow. Then, click on the first item in the drawing area, then on the second item to make the connection. Repeat the procedure to make the connection between the other items. This item is displayed for all analysis tools.

▪AND: Logical operator to be used when all the causes connected to this operator generate the defect. This operator is displayed only for the "FTA" analysis tool.

▪OR: Logical operator to be used when at least one of the causes connected to this operator generate the defect. This operator is displayed only for the "FTA" analysis tool.

▪OR EXCLUSIVE: Variation of OR operator. The result is "true" if only one of the input causes has generated the defect, that is, if all or none of the causes has generated the defect, the result will be "false" to generate the defect. Such operator is displayed only for "FTA" analysis tool.

▪CONDITIONAL: Logical operator to represent the involvement of the cause in a defect. Example: if it rains heavily, there will be floods. This operator is displayed only for the "FTA" analysis tool.

▪K in N: Logical operator to be used if at least K of a universe of N possible causes which are connected to this operator, generate the defect. For example, 3 out of causes should occur. This operator is displayed only for the "FTA" analysis tool.
